Sanskrit Letters, Sounds and Chanting 05|02

Description

“Mantra is asana for the mind”

Sanskrit chanting and mantra conveys the spiritual aspect of Yoga, and provides the yogi with a conscious and profound access to the philosophy and psychology of Yoga.

Join us in this course to gain insight into the many facets of Sanskrit chanting; as a tool for sense withdrawal, as a devotional pursuit, to purify the heart, and to establish peace and calm in the mind. We will look at the different types of chanting and mantra, their translation and meaning, how to utilise correct sounds and methods of pronunciation, and learn how to use your Mala beads for mantra repetition chanting.

Gail is a Perth Yoga teacher with 7 years experience teaching Ashtanga Yoga, and is continuing into her 5th year of learning and studying Classical Sanskrit. Gail began studying this beautiful language in order to gain first-hand knowledge of the original Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and has since gained a much deeper appreciation of the access that Sanskrit grants to all other aspects of the Yoga tradition.
