Meaningful Modifications For teaching Pre-Natal Students in a General Class

Professional Development for Yoga Teachers with Melanie Mackintosh

As yoga teachers we manage a myriad of special needs in any general yoga class. At times this can be daunting. This workshop is intended to help the already established yoga teacher or yoga teacher trainee to become more familiar with meaningful modifications to offer the pre-natal student who is in general class.

This is a fun and very interactive workshop so bring along any questions, case studies and vinyasa sequences/poses that you would like to learn the modifications for. We will brainstorm ideas for these during a practice session, so you can see how they apply.

We will do a refresher on the contraindications and cautions for yoga during pregnancy and you will receive a small manual citing the latest research in this area. You will also receive a photo library outlining common modifications for your reference later.

At the end of this workshop, you will feel more confident in working with your pre-natal students in general classes. The intention of this workshop is to reinforce what you already know as experienced teachers, and to provide you with additional tools to use in your teaching.
